Abstract

Surgical correction of pectus excavatum is associated with severe pain and its difficult control is challenging for anesthesiologists. We present 2 adolescents who underwent Nuss procedure in whom Dexmedetomidine and Magnesium Sulfate was used by intravenous and epidural route, avoiding systemic opioids. During the entire perioperative period, both patients had optimal results in terms of analgesia and no adverse effects. We consider that Dexmedetomidine -Mg combination by double route -intravenous and epidural- is safe and effective in pain management of the Nuss procedure.
