Abstract

The purpose of this doctoral thesis is to produce the critical edition and translation of the Latin work Historia utriusque belli Dacici a Traiano Caesare gesti ex simulachris quae in columna eiusdem Romae uisuntur collecta by Alfonso Chacón. At the same time, an introductory study is carried out on the figure of the author, that is, his biography, his epistolary correspondence and the many works that he wrote. In addition, the historical-cultural context in which the book was composed is analyzed and an in-depth study of it is made. Finally, all of this is complemented with an appendix of images and with the images of the engravings of Trajan's column that accompany the Latin text itself
