Abstract

The TeachSDGs.org initiative promotes the need to raise society’s awareness to work towards sustainable development within the United Nations’ 2030 agenda, along with its program of sustainable development goals (SDGs). On the other hand, the new funding agendas for research and development in computer science and artificial intelligence are rapidly adapting to European regulation regarding the ethical framework for reliable AI. The design, development, and use of AI models, which are increasingly ubiquitous in our lives, require ethical principles and fundamental rights listed in such directives. An example are the European Union High-Level Expert Group Guidelines for trustworthy Artificial Intelligence. The Ontologies4SDGs educational innovation project is aligned with these guidelines and aims to transfer knowledge acquired at the Institut Polytechnique de Paris and the adoption of TeachSDGs practices to equivalent courses. To this end, we have published an open repository with didactic and useful resources for both teachers and students of Knowledge Engineering, based on ontology design applied to achieve the SDGs.
