Niveles de condición física y composición corporal y su asociación con biomarcadores inmunológicos y otros biomarcadores alterados por la Covid-19 en adultos y mayores

Resumen

La enfermedad COVID-19 ha ocasionado una mortalidad del 78% en adultos mayores. Están claros los beneficios de la actividad física regular sobre la salud, la esperanza de vida, y las consecuencias mentales y físicas producidas por la pandemia. Se cree que uno de los mecanismos de mejora podría ser mediante la mejora de niveles de condición física, funcionalidad y composición corporal generados por dicha actividad. El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar la asociación de la condición física y composición corporal con biomarcadores inmunológicos y otros alterados por COVID-19 en adultos y mayores. Para ello, los participantes pertenecerán a dos grupos de edades: adultos (50-64 años) y mayores (65-80 años). Se midió el nivel de condición física mediante test de campo. La composición corporal fue medida con bioimpedancia y tallímetro. Además de una extracción sanguínea y la posterior determinación de los biomarcadores relacionados con COVID-19. Se observó que presentar una mejor condición física y composición corporal se asocia con un mejor perfil de ciertos biomarcadores inmunológicos y otros relacionados con COVID-19. Por ello, poseer una mayor condición física y composición corporal, como consecuencia de un estilo de vida saludable, favorece la respuesta inmunitaria, inflamatoria y de otros marcadores intermedios, en personas de 50-80 años
