Abstract
The aim of this paper is to obtain an approximation of the perceptions of corporate communication and public relations professionals operating in Spain on the impact that disinformation is having on the communication of organizations. The aim is to identify the measures adopted by organizations to deal with disinformation and to determine whether it has become a threat to the industry. Nine semi-structured interviews were conducted with representatives of the main associations, directors of communication and public relations agencies as well as digital services companies, usually outsourced from the communication sector. There is a lack of strategies to anticipate and neutralize disinformation attacks. Likewise, professionals demand more media literacy initiatives to help citizens to be more critical and highlight the importance of professionalizing the sector and avoiding labor intrusion.
