Resumen

El carcinoma anaplásico de tiroides es una de las neoplasias primarias malignas más infrecuentes. Aunque son muchas las incógnitas todavía existentes respecto a su naturaleza, su evolución es invariablemente fatal y acompaña una supervivencia media de 4-7 meses desde el momento del diagnóstico. La clínica más común es una tumoración tiroidea leñosa de rápido crecimiento; en los diagnósticos diferenciales habituales se deben incluir el bocio multinodular o un cáncer tiroideo previo de larga duración, pues realizando un diagnóstico precoz se puede aumentar la supervivencia del paciente.
