Abstract

Forensic linguistics deals with the study of the interface between language and the law, however, this new discipline, due to its recent appearance, is still in early stages of development in many countries, including Spain. This is why, in this article, some dates and events that have been decisive for the emergence and progress of this field are mentioned, followed by a review of its current situation particularly in English-speaking countries, Germanic countries and Spain, among others. Finally, the main associations, research centres and universities where training or professionalizing activities are carried out in the field of forensic linguistics are also described.
