Abstract

Physical inactivity is one of the main determining factors of school obesity and is considered the fourth risk factor for mortality worldwide. Despite this, a high percentage of schoolchildren do not meet the physical activity recommendations indicated by the WHO for these ages. Furthermore, it can be observed how, during the school day, young schoolchildren spend most of their time in sedentary behaviors, without reaching the minimum amount of physical activity recommended by the American Heart Association for the school day. Taking the above into account, the promotion of physical activity from educational centers seems to be a priority. Educational centers have been identified as ideal environments for the promotion of physical activity and health by numerous organizations, since schoolchildren necessarily spend a high percentage of their waking hours in them, during a critical stage for the acquisition and consolidation of health habits. The main objective of this symposium is to present the strategies and resources to promote physical activity from the educational context that have been developed within the European Erasmus+ EUMOVE project. In short, this symposium aims to be a means for different professionals in the educational field to share valuable experiences for their application in their daily practice.
