Résumé
Following the discovery of new and unpublished data in the Archivo General de Simancas, this article shows the file formed by the letters sent by the corregidor Melchor Bonifaz “al rey nuestro señor” after the Anglo-Dutch attack on the city of Cádiz in 1596. In them we find a detailed list of 336 neighbours, with their trades and arms, descriptions of the district and the list of expenses and income at the end of the 16th century.
