Doctor por la Universidad de Cádiz con la tesis Analisis de alta resolucion en fluctuaciones climatologicas Aplicacion a la Bahia de Cadiz. 1998. Dirigida por Dr/a. Rufino Angel Ligero Giménez, Dra. Begoña Tejedor Alvarez.

Since 1999, I have been a member of the TEP195 Acoustic Engineering Laboratory research group. My research career has primarily focused on environmental noise, but I have also been involved in related fields such as acoustics and vibrations on board ships, underwater acoustics, and urban noise and public health. I have carried out a knowledge transfer task to European governments and administrations. In 2002, I participated as an expert in the 'PL2000/IB/TR01 TRANSPORT TWINNING PROJECT' organized by the European organization TAIEX in collaboration with the Polish government and the Spanish Ministry of Development. For two years, I worked on adapting legislation and training technicians in Poland in the field of protection against railway noise. Since then, I have carried out various activities in countries that would eventually join the EU, such as Cyprus and Romania, as well as in countries that have not yet joined, such as Kosovo, Serbia, North Macedonia, and Turkey. In 2014-2015, I served as a senior expert on the Italian team responsible for developing noise action plans to implement the European Directive 2002/49/CE within the project 'TR2009/0327.03-01/001 Technical Assistance for the Implementation Capacity of Environmental Noise Europe (non-EU) Directive – Turkey (EuropeAid/131352/D/SER/TR)'. A crucial aspect of this project was training national and local authorities in noise management. This project is the largest of its kind in Europe to date, with a budget of 6 million euros. During the years 2013-2015, I participated in several R+D projects, including the Junta de Andalucía-funded ECO-BICI project (File G-GI3002/IDID) and the Noise Information System of Andalusian Road Infrastructures (SIRIVA) project (File G-GI3002/IDIC), which were endowed with EUR 302,341.49 and EUR 413,683.27, respectively. The researching in those projects supported the basis of my current works, publications, and Ph.D. supervision. Finally, I would like to mention my academic activity as a professor and coordinator of the environmental acoustics module in the Master's Degree in Acoustic Engineering at the University of Cádiz since 2006 continuously. Since 2015 I have been in close collaboration with the “Vasile Alecsandri” University of Bacău, Romania; in the development of exchange programs and co-direction of doctoral theses in environmental acoustics and in which I have been a visiting professor since then in his Master's in Environmental Engineering. In recognition of my work and participation in the TAIEX programs in Romania, I was awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa in 2018. I have had the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary manner with research groups on fractal-based mathematical models at the University of Iasi in Romania, as well as very fruitfully with the urbanism and architects of the University of the Americas. Since 2019, I have belonged to the University Institute of Marine Research of the UCA, where one of the lines of research is underwater acoustics. The final part of the research has shifted focus from acoustics to supporting young researchers at my Faculty. Working with large databases let me to implement machine-learning algorithms that I have used in previous works.
