Doctor by the Universidad de Cádiz with the thesis Arquitectura orientada a servicios consciente del contexto Una aproximación no intrusiva 2017. Supervised by Dr. Guadalupe Ortiz Bellot.

Alfonso García de Prado has a great professional background that allows him to apply good practices and transfer knowledge from the company to his education and research duties. For almost 10 years, he worked in large companies such as MSL Software and Atos Origin, where he was senior analyst programmer and integration coordinator and integration consultant for major sporting events. After this extensive experience in the company he decides to devote himself to research and education. His most relevant educational and research positions are: firstly, his teaching work in an advanced programming course of the Pontereas Council, secondly, his research work collaborating in a project at the University of Extremadura and finally his position as assistant professor and researcher at the University of Cadiz. His research has focused mainly on the field of service-oriented architectures —and, in particular, web services—and their adaptation to context, which he defended in order to obtain his PhD. In particular, he studied the use of complex event processing techniques to facilitate real-time context awareness in service-oriented and event-driven architectures, especially in the field of the Internet of Things. In addition, he has focused on applying these technologies in the field of health, in particular in detecting health risks derived from poor air quality. He has more than 20 publications in peer-reviewed journals, conferences and book chapters, highlighting the 13 JCR papers (6 Q1, 4 Q2, 2 Q3, and 1 Q4) published. He has participated in 2 national research projects (TIN2015-65845-C3-3-R and RTI2018-093608-B-C3), 1 regional research projects (P20-00865), several national research networks, and several local's research project (PR2011-004, CEIJ19-C01.1, IRTP03_UCA). He is an author/co-author of 5 software tools registered in the "Registro Territorial de la Propiedad Intelectual de la Junta de Andalucía": INTeNDEd, CARED-SOA, COLLECT, nITROGEN and AlergiApp.
