Doctor by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with the thesis Radiation fog, gravity waves and their interactions with turbulence in the atmospheric boundary layer 2015. Supervised by Dr. Carlos Yagüe Anguis.

Carlos is a researcher working on surface-atmosphere interactions. Research activities: - Micrometeorology: atmospheric boundary layer and surface layer. Stable boundary layer (radiation fog, gravity waves, sub-meso motions, etc.). Thermally-driven circulations (mountain and sea breezes). Surface turbulent fluxes. Surface heterogeneity / complex terrain / mountain meteorology. Turbulence-pollutants relationships. - Hydrology: soil moisture and satellite-based rainfall products Satellite-based soil moisture data assimilation in land surface models. Improvement of real-time satellite-based precipitation products. SMOS and SMAP satellite data. High-resolution land-use and soil moisture data. Methodologies: - Observational approach Installation, quality control, and analysis of observational data from in situ and satellite measurements. Use of measurements to evaluate different atmospheric and land-surface models. Participation in experimental field campaigns over different surfaces: flat-homogeneous, heterogeneous-complex and urban environments. - Modelling approach Use of models to complement the observational analysis and to better understand the physical processes. Evaluation of model forecasts through comparison with observational data. Experienced in Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) and Surface Externalisée (SURFEX) models. Data assimilation processes (particle filter) to improve model outputs.
