Abstract
This article explores the new possibilities provided by the information and global society to the social movements focused on popular education. The specific characteristics of the new historical period are tackled taking as a starting point three key concepts: globalization, popular and society-network. After that, the article studies the educational dimension of the social movements and the work that is being done on education within the framework of the World Social Forums of Porto Alegre (Brazil) and Bombay (India). Finally, it analyses experiences on popular education from the Latin American and Spanish contexts that use the Internet and the logic of the network.
