Resumen

En la era del conocimiento, el desarrollo local está relacionado directamente con la capacidad de los territorios para responder a los desafíos en un contexto mundial globalizado y competitivo. La innovación social es una de las formas importantes mediante la cual se manifiesta dicha capacidad, que se basa primordialmente en el uso de los recursos endógenos. Aunque los estudios de este fenómeno -que toma distintas formas dependiendo de las características y condiciones económicas, culturales y sociales propias de cada territorio- son recientes, por su repercusión práctica, el interés de los investigadores en todo el mundo está incrementándose a gran velocidad.En esta investigación, mediante técnicas de análisis bibliométrico, se indaga en el ámbito de la producción científica existente enfocada a explicar cómo se produce la Innovación Social y cómo ésta contribuye al desarrollo territorial. Como uno de los resultados del estudio, se han identificado cuatro grupos temáticos -Economía Social, Gobierno Local, Fortalecimiento de las capacidades territoriales y Desarrollo Teórico de la Innovación Social y Territorio- que generan las repercusiones prácticas y teóricas en el campo de la investigación sobre el desarrollo local, constituyéndose mediante la vertebración de sus aportaciones, al avance en esta materia.
