Abstract

The present study analyzes the successful leadership development practices of several school headmasters in Andalusia (Spain). In order to do this, we developed a qualitative and interpretive methodological design that investigates the perceptions and evaluations of 30 school headmasters regarding the possibilities of developing different successful leadership practices. Data analysis was carried out through specialized software, thus reflecting the grounded theory process (theoretical, open, axial and selective coding). The results show a series of emerging categories that respond to the (im)possibility of the development of successful leadership. In order to identify and organize the weight of the available information we established a categorical frequency index (CFI). The discussion and conclusions focus on a cross-sectional approach to both the results and the objective of our research reported in this article.
