Julio Pérez Serrano is Professor of Contemporary History and Coordinator of the Doctoral Programme in Arts and Humanities at the University of Cádiz. In 1993, he founded the Group for the Study of Contemporary History (GEHA), which he continues to lead. Between 2005 and 2017, he directed the Master’s Degree in Development Cooperation and Project Management at the University of Cádiz. Since 2000, he has chaired the Association of Contemporary History and coordinated the International Academic Network of Contemporary History. Since 2003, he has been editor of Historia Actual Online and the Revista de Historia Actual. He is the promoter and director of the International Conferences "Our Common Heritage", which have been held annually at the University of Cádiz since 2001. He is co-director of the International Symposia on Contemporary History, organised since 1996 by the Government of La Rioja (Spain). In collaboration with Marie-Claude Chaput, he is director of the Colloquia on the Spanish Transition, which have been held annually at the Colegio de España in Paris since 2009.
