Doctor by the Universidad de Granada with the thesis Usefulness of diagnostic criteria, physical fitness, physical activity questionnaires and physical exercise in fibromyalgia 2014. Supervised by Dr. Manuel Delgado Fernández, Dr. Ana Carbonell Baeza.

My research activities focus on physical activity and physical exercise therapy as a tool to improve public health. My areas of interest expand to the study of the effect of sedentary time, physical activity, fitness, fatness and nutrition in several health outcomes such as pain, health-related quality of life, cognitive function, cardio-metabolic risk, etc. in diverse populations. I have published more than 70 scientific papers indexed in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR). I have published a total of 19 scientific papers as First author in JCR journals, 18 as Second author and 5 in last position. All the papers have been published in a period of 10 years (2012-2021), which is an indicator of high scientific production. Most of the papers have been published in high quality journals, belonging approximately 50% of them to First Quartile (Q1) in their area, and 90% to First or Second Quartile (Q1 and Q2) journals in the area, which is an indicative of excellent scientific production. The scientific impact of the articles has reached a total of 1223 citations according to the Web of Sciences, which results in an average impact of 12.1 citations per article published and 2077 citations according to Google Scholar. My H index is 21 according to the Web of Science and 29 according to Google Scholar. The sum of the impact index of the journals in which the articles have been published is greater than 200. I have recently been chosen as one of the 10 authors that published the most at the University of Cádiz twice, in 2017 and 2019, which is an indicative of the research excellence. During the postdoctoral stage, I have published more than 60 JCR papers, have made 4 international research stays, have been Principal Investigator (PI) of 2 research projects, have been integrated into 13 new research projects, have participated in more than 60 contributions to national and international Congresses. In addition, I have co-directed 4 international doctoral theses defended in International Universities.
