Resumen

En la región geohistórica del Estrecho de Gibraltar, se han desarrollado importantes investigaciones en los últimos años, en el sur de Iberia y en el norte de África. Estos estudios nos han permitido documentar la evidencia de grupos humanos que datan del Pleistoceno Medio. La antropología clásica los llama de manera diferente (Neandertales en el sur de Europa y humanos modernos en el norte de África). Los registros actuales muestran similitudes importantes en relación con la tecnología lítica (llamada Modo 3, Musteriense o MSA) y con las prácticas de obtención de los recursos marinos. De forma independiente a la visión antropológica o cultural, para nosotros y desde una perspectiva social de la Arqueología, ambos grupos corresponden a sociedades cazadorasrecolectoras, con formas de vida similares y que han podido tener relaciones y contactos, entre ambas orillas.
