Doctor by the Universidad de Murcia with the thesis Los puertos antiguos de Cartagena geoarqueología, arqueología portuaria y paisaje marítimo: un estudio desde la arqueología náutica 2016. Supervised by Dr. Sebastián F. Ramallo Asensio.

Currently, I am hired as an Associate Professor in Underwater Archaeology at the University of Cádiz. I have been at the University of Cadiz since 2017 with a postdoc fellow Juan de la Cierva within the framework of the Nautical and Underwater Archaeology Program. I belong to the HUM-440 (UCA) and E041-02 (UM) research groups with whom I have collaborated in projects, excavations, scientific committees and organized courses, congresses and seminars. My career has focused on nautical and underwater archaeology, geoarchaeology and harbour archaeology research, in the peninsular and Mediterranean area. Harbour and underwater archaeology have been the main objective of my doctoral thesis. Defended in October 2016, obtaining the highest qualification (Outstanding Cum Laude) and awarded with an International Mention and submitted to evaluation for the Extraordinary Doctorate Award from the University of Murcia. During my pre-doctoral period, I did stay in international research centres (the University of Southampton, University of Oxford) and national (ARQUA, University of Cádiz, CASC). During my postdoctoral period, I have made several international stays (l'Orientale Napoli, Selçuk University, Akdeniz University, INAH-Mexico, University Nova of Lisboa) and I have joined the UCA Line of Underwater Archaeology as a postdoctoral researcher. A novel line of research, training and dissemination unique in the Spanish university. Currently, I coordinate this program, with research tasks (Projects La Ballenera Shipwreck; Arapal Shpwreck; Herakles -FEDER-UCA18-107327, CREAMARE, TIDE, KIttSeadrones, amongst others), the underwater archaeology laboratory, the archaeological management of the UCADIZ Research Vessel, as well as the technology and knowledge transfer through university-company contracts. I am a Lead Researcher of 3 projects, the FEDER UCA-18-107327 Herakles Project, focused on port archaeology in the Bay of Algeciras, awarded with 154.000 €; The TIDE Project (EAPA_630 / 2018) An Interreg Atlantic area project focused on public access to UCH, 314.362,49 €; and the CREAMARE Project, (CREA-CULT-2021-COOP-2-101056117) focused on virtual resources and videogames for enhancing the UCH. This has reinforced my internationalization, currently forming part of the two most important international committees related to Underwater Archaeology (UNITWIN-UNESCO) and submerged cultural heritage (ICOMOS). Inf fact I have been part of several UNESCO and ICOMOS consultive committees regarding my specialty, harbor and underwater archaeology. I have been part of two international projects (Underwater Survey Antalya; Ville Maritime ...) and 5 national R+D+i at the University of Murcia, University Huelva, or University Cádiz. My training and teaching experience focuses on the consolidation of underwater archaeology at the University through courses or seminars. In January of 2022 when I became the Coordinator of the only Official Master's Degree in Nautical and Underwater Archeology in Spain, where I directed 26 Master Thesis, with 55% teaching. I also direct or co-direct 2 Doctoral Theses. Likewise, I believe that the transfer of scientific results to society is part of our daily work as researchers, thanks to my training in museology and dissemination obtained with scholarships from the Ministry of Culture in ARQUA, I have developed numerous dissemination projects and activities or workshops for the general public.
